That was the end of my patience.
Robin, and several other shoppers, ducked under the hail of cinnamon and apple pot pourri I flung at him from the scoop in the open necked sack.
Damien caught up with me as I stormed out of the front exit, caught my shoulders and we wrestled for a minute in front of the florists stall before he got my hands down and pinned. He still looked perfectly calm, as though having his partner hurl cinnamon sticks and slices of dried apple around was not at all inappropriate in a public place.

The short, ancient and true tale of the Brat in a Hat
One December Day long ago a top and brat were shopping at their local mall. The dear brat spotting an Elf on the Shelf, suggested one would look quite nice on the mantle in he and the top's house. The top, landing a swat on his brat's rump, remarked he already had one naughty creature roaming the halls at night without permission, he didn't need two. And thus, on December nights in all those homes that have been so cruelly denied an Elf on the Shelf, while the Top sleeps a Naughty Brat in a Christmas Night Hat now roams.
